You add a question to a survey on the Survey page with Add a new question: in the Select question type window you pick one of 22 types, write the question, turn on a required answer and use the other tabs to set the answer order, branching, a picture or labels. The question type determines how the respondent answers and how Quanda evaluates the answers in the response analysis.
On the Survey page you edit a template from the library or build your own survey from scratch. The top bar holds the survey design template switch, the survey preview, information about the survey manager and a link to the help center.
How to edit the front page
The survey name is taken over from the name on the Settings page, click the field to change it. After clicking Edit next to the Front page, you write the text the respondent sees on the front page into the editor, for example what the survey is for and how long it takes. Save the text with Save.

How to add a question
- On the Survey page, click Add a new question.
- In the Select question type window, click the type that fits what you want to find out.
- In the Add a new question window, on the General tab, write the question, an optional Help Text and the answers.
- Turn on the Required answer switch if the respondent must not continue without answering.
- Adjust the question settings on the other tabs, see below, and click Save.
- Check in the survey preview how the respondent will see the question.

If you have many questions, split them into pages with Create a new Page. Shorter pages are easier to fill in on a phone, and you also need separate pages for branching. Below the questions on each page, the Continue to field sets which page the respondent goes to next. The Survey Final Page option submits the survey after that page.
Next to each saved question, the editor shows the icons Edit question, Copy Question Before and Copy Question After, Create a new Question before and Create a new Question after, Move question to another page and Delete Question. Copies come in handy when you need several similar questions with the same answers.

Try the most used question types here, just as the respondent sees them. The answers are not sent anywhere.
For the NPS question, the result equals the share of promoters (9 and 10) minus the share of detractors (0 to 6), passive respondents (7 and 8) are left out. The resulting number shows how willing respondents are to recommend a product, service or company. For the Upload file question, one file can be up to 5 MB.
Examples of all 22 types with tips on when to use each one are in the article 6 steps how to create a survey.
How to fill in the General tab
Depending on the question type, the question window has the tabs General, Settings, Logic, Picture and Labels. The Logic tab is only available for choice, date and number questions, and the Labels tab only for choice questions and the Create contact question.

Question and help text. Write the wording in the Question field. The Help Text helps the respondent answer your question correctly, for example by saying how many answers they can select.
Question type. You can change the type picked in the Select question type window in the Question Type field, for example from One answer to Dropdown Menu.
Required answer. The Required answer switch sits right on the General tab. The respondent cannot submit the survey without answering a required question. For questions with several lines, such as Text (more lines) or Number (multiple lines), you set this for each line separately.
Answers. Add another answer with Add next and remove one you do not need with the trash icon. Items left shows how many more answers you can add. Choice questions take up to 30 answers, a dropdown menu up to 200.
Adding answers in bulk. The icon next to Add next opens the Create many window. Paste the answers, each on its own line, and click Create. Quanda turns every line into one answer, so you do not have to enter a long list one by one.

Other answer. Add answer "Other" adds an answer at the end of the list where the respondent writes their own text. You can rename it, for example to Something else.
Multi-line rating. Scales and ratings have the Show as multi-line rating switch. When it is on, you write the items the respondent rates on the same scale into the Response line name fields, for example quality, price and delivery.
How to set the answer order and other options
On the Settings tab, under Display Answers, you choose whether answers are shown in the order of their insertion, in alphabetical order or in random order. A random order reduces the effect of an answer's position on the choice. For One answer, More answers and Create contact, the Split into columns field arranges the answers in one, two or three columns.

Other options on the Settings tab depend on the question type:
- More answers: Maximum number of checked answers limits how many answers the respondent can select.
- Textbox (Short Answer), Essay (Long Text) and Text (more lines): Minimum number of characters asks for a longer answer.
- Numerical: Number of decimal places (from Without decimals to Four decimal places), Minimum and Maximum.
- Number (multiple lines): Minimum, Maximum and Check the sum. Once you turn the check on, fill in Required sum of filled values and Notification of the incorrect sum of the values, for example when the respondent splits 100% across several items.
- Date (multiple lines): Answer Type Settings with the options Date and Time, Date only and Time only.
- Satisfaction scale, Consent scale, Star rating and Smiley rating: Only one response for each column makes sure the respondent uses each value of the scale only once.
- Create contact: Update an existing contact updates the details of a contact you already have in Quanda.
- Insert file (multiple files): you set the Maximum number of files right on the General tab.
How to set up logic and branching
On the Logic tab you set what happens after a specific answer. Each branch has to be on a separate page.
- Redirecting: in the Option column, pick an answer, and in the Redirecting Target field, the page the respondent continues to.
- Termination: pick the answer that ends the survey. In Text of the ending, write what the respondent sees, then set the Button Text and Skip to web address, where the button takes them.
- Quota: for a termination, sets which terminated surveys are saved. An empty field means no limit, all terminated surveys are saved. A value of 0 means no terminated survey with this answer is saved. A value of 1 or higher means that once the quota is exceeded, further surveys with this answer are not saved.
For Date and Numerical questions, you pick an Operator (less than, equal to, greater than) and a Value instead of an answer, for example a number greater than 10.

How to add a picture to a question
On the Picture tab, click Upload Picture and choose a JPG, PNG or GIF file, for example a photo of the product being rated. Use Width and Height to set the picture size in pixels, Keep Proportions keeps the aspect ratio. Remove the picture with Delete.
How to assign labels based on the answer
On the Labels tab, pick an answer in the Option column and one or more contact labels in the Labels column, the list of labels can be searched. For the Create contact question, you pick the labels every newly created contact gets.

Labels based on the answer work when you send the survey with a Quanda campaign, because Quanda then recognizes the respondent. Other actions based on the answer are set up in the survey automation.
How to edit the final page
After clicking Edit next to the Final page, you choose what the respondent sees after submitting the survey:
- After sending the questionnaire, go to the thank you page: write a thank you in the editor and set the Button Text and Skip to web address, where the button takes the respondent.
- After sending the questionnaire, go to your own website: the respondent is redirected right away to the address in Skip to web address, for example a thank you page on your own website.
