A tag places a contact in Quanda into a group, which you then use to quickly select campaign recipients. You add tags by import, by automation or manually in the contact detail or contact list, and you manage them under Contacts, Add / edit contact labels. One contact can have several tags and an account can have up to 500 of them.
Which contact groups to create
Before you start tagging, think about which groups you need for your communication. Splitting contacts into existing and potential customers works well, because each group usually gets different information. You can also sort them by:
- product category,
- place and way of purchase,
- how they use your product,
- their relationship to your company and influence on closing a deal.
For each group, plan what you will send it and when. This targeting strongly affects campaign results. Do not create more groups than you can regularly send relevant content to, though.
How to add tags to contacts
By import
- When transferring contacts from a CRM, if you keep tags there.
- From a contact import file, where you map the tag column to the Contact Labels field. Write several tags for one contact into one cell separated by commas.
By automation
- In an email campaign, with a condition for adding a tag, for example to everyone who clicked a specific link.
- In a contact automation with the Add label action, for example when a new contact is created.
- In a form automation that adds the tag to everyone who submitted the form, see Automation in a form.
Manually
- In the contact detail, pick tags in the Contact Labels field.
- In the contact list, select contacts with the check boxes, pick the tag and click Add. The Remove button removes a tag in bulk.
Spaces, upper and lower case and accents all count when tags are created, so a typo creates a new tag.
How to manage tags
- In the top menu, open Contacts, Add / edit contact labels.
- Type a new tag into the empty field and add it.
- Delete a tag with the cross next to its name.
The number in brackets next to each tag shows how many contacts have it. A tag that an email campaign automation adds to contacts (crossed arrows icon) cannot be deleted, because other things may depend on it.
How to use tags when selecting recipients is described in Filtering of contacts and selection of recipients in a simple campaign.

In the contact list, select the contacts with the check boxes, pick the tag and click Add. You remove a tag in bulk the same way with Remove. For a large number of contacts, use an import with a tag column.
One account can have up to 500 tags. It pays to name tags by a consistent system and to clean up unused tags from time to time.
A tag that an email campaign automation adds to contacts cannot be deleted, because other things may depend on it. Such a tag shows a crossed arrows icon in the overview.
Yes. Spaces, upper and lower case and accents all count when tags are created. A typo therefore creates a new tag and splits your contacts into two groups.
