Double opt-in is the verification of a subscriber's email address: after the form is submitted, Quanda sends a verification email with a link and adds the person to Contacts only after they click it. You turn it on in the form under Double opt in in the left menu. Verification protects your database from typos and made-up addresses. What double opt-in is and when it pays off is explained in Double opt-in. What is it and how does it work?
How double opt-in works
- A person fills in the form. The email is always required.
- Quanda saves the data and sends them a verification email.
- Until verified, the contact is not visible in Contacts, cannot receive emails and does not count towards the contact limit. You see the submitted data only in the record under Saved forms.
- The verification link is valid for seven days. After the click, the contact appears in Contacts marked as verified and you can send it emails.
- If the person does not click within seven days, Quanda deletes their email and other personal data. The record of the submitted form stays, but without personal data.
How to turn on double opt-in
- Under Forms, open the form and click Double opt in in the left menu.
- If the form is active, pause it first. An active form cannot be edited.
- Turn on the verification with the slider in the first part of the page.
- Fill in Subject and Content of the email.
- Insert the verification link, see the next part.
- Save the settings and switch the form back to ready to use.

How to insert the verification link
Quanda generates the verification link automatically and puts it into the email text. You have two options:
- The link as a web address: place the cursor where the link should be and click Insert verification link.
- The link on your own text: delete the original link, write the link text, for example Confirm email, select it and click Insert verification link.

The email may contain only one link, the verification one. Otherwise the verification might not go through correctly.
How to write the verification email
Keep the text as simple as possible: clear, brief and without images. The email then has a better chance of reaching the primary inbox and people confirm it in seconds. It can look like this:

You can also insert the verification link into a regular or transactional email outside the form. The email editor offers it as one of the link types.
Where to see who did not confirm
In the form, open Saved forms. Records of people who have not clicked the verification link yet are marked as waiting for verification. After seven days without verification, Quanda deletes the personal data from the record, and the record itself stays in the list. More in Completed forms.
Verified contacts are marked as verified in the contact list, and the contact history shows when and through which form the verification happened.
