In August 2021, twelve updates arrived in Quanda online surveys. The most important are the Net Promoter Score (NPS) question, respondent lists for each answer, redirecting to your own thank you page and new charts that you can download as an image and filter by clicking the legend. All text answers now appear in the final report, and there are notices for a paused survey and logo settings. For each update you will find what it does, where to find it in Quanda and when it comes in handy.

Key takeaways

  1. The NPS question measures willingness to recommend you on a scale of 0 to 10, and Quanda calculates the result for you.
  2. For each answer you open a list of respondents and tag them all at once.
  3. After submitting a survey, respondents can go to your own thank you page.
  4. You download charts as PNG, JPEG, PDF or SVG and put them into a presentation.
  5. A click on the chart legend hides answers you are not interested in right now.
  6. The final report contains all text answers and a logo in a size you choose.

In brief: what is new, since when, who it concerns and where to find it

  • What is new: the NPS question, respondent lists by answer, your own thank you page, new charts with download and filtering, text answers in the final report, notices for a paused survey and logo settings.
  • Since when: since August 2021.
  • Who it concerns: everyone who collects feedback from customers or employees in Quanda and then presents the results.
  • Where to find it: the NPS question when adding a question on the Survey page, respondent lists and charts in the answer analysis section, text answers and the logo in the Final report section.

What has changed since this article was published: A new generation of surveys arrived in 2025. Today you set the look of a survey in the design editor under the palette icon, which replaced the brush icon, and that is also where you add a logo and set its size. Surveys have 22 question types, and new answers load automatically in the answer analysis. You will find an overview in the article Surveys: custom templates, design editor and 22 question types and the current steps in the guides Analysis of answers and Final report.

1. A new Net Promoter Score (NPS) question

Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a standardised question that measures how willing respondents are to recommend you. It reads: "How likely are you to recommend [product, service, company, a job at the company] to your friends or family?" Respondents answer on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 means "not at all" and 10 means "very gladly".

Add the NPS question on the Survey page with the Add new question button.
The NPS question as the respondent sees it: orange question text and eleven radio buttons from 0 to 10
The respondent picks one number on a scale from 0 to 10.

The result is calculated in a standardised way too. The answers are divided into three groups:

Respondent groups in the NPS question
Group Rating What it means
Detractors 0 to 6 They will not recommend you and may speak about you critically.
Passives 7 and 8 They are satisfied but will not recommend you. They are not counted in the result.
Promoters 9 and 10 They will gladly recommend you.

The final Net Promoter Score is the share of promoters minus the share of detractors. The result in percent shows how willing respondents are to recommend the product, service or company.

Answer analysis of an NPS question: distribution of answers from 0 to 10, detractors 16.7%, passives 0%, promoters 83.3%, NPS 66.7 and a semicircle chart
Quanda calculates NPS for you: 83.3% promoters minus 16.7% detractors gives an NPS of 66.7.

If the score is higher than 50, that is good. If it is lower or even negative, you need to find the exact reason and fix it. In that case your respondents are not willing to recommend you, which makes your growth much harder.

Tip: After the NPS question, add an open question: "What is the main reason for your rating?" The number tells you where you stand and the comments tell you why. You will find a ready made survey with NPS in the library, for example the Customer satisfaction survey.

2. Respondent lists for each answer

A respondent list by answer is a list of contacts who chose a specific answer to a question. Open it in the answer analysis section by clicking the people icon next to the number of answers. You can find out very quickly who answered and how exactly.

We had been really looking forward to this feature.

The people icon next to an answer opens the list of respondents who chose it.

You can tag everyone in the list at once. Using the tag, you can then send respondents an email after the survey or simply call them.

Assign or remove a tag for respondents in the list with one click.

Tip: The list works when you send the survey as an invitation in a Quanda email campaign. Quanda then recognises respondents by their click from the email. How to send the invitation is described in the guide Distribution.

3. A simpler survey editing page

The Survey page is where you put together the intro page, the questions and the closing page. We removed everything unnecessary, and the whole page and all its elements save automatically right away. We also made it simpler to edit the text of the intro and closing pages.

You edit the intro page, question pages and closing page on a single page.

If the intro page has no text, it is not shown and the respondent starts straight with the first question. If it has text, it is shown.

4. A quick change of survey template

A survey template sets the background and font colours. You change it with the brush icon in the white bar under the main blue menu, even while the survey is running.

Pick a colour scheme for your survey from the templates.

Tip: Today you set the look in more detail in the design editor and save it as your own template, see the article Surveys: custom templates, design editor and 22 question types.

5. Redirecting to your own thank you page

Your own thank you page is a page on your website where Quanda sends the respondent after they submit the survey. You set it on the Survey page in the Closing page part by choosing to go to your own web page after the survey is submitted. The original option to show the Quanda thank you page is still there.

On the closing page you choose the Quanda thank you page or your own address.

Redirecting to your own page lets you track conversions from completed surveys better and use remarketing for further communication with respondents who went through the survey.

Tip: Put a next step on your thank you page: a discount on the next purchase, a link to a review or an invitation to a webinar. At that moment the respondent is engaged and willing to continue.

6. All text answers in the final report

The final report is the output of the answer analysis that you download as a PDF. It now contains all text answers from respondents: short text, longer text and the Other item in questions with one or more answers. You no longer have to copy them into a comment.

Text answers are listed in the final report below the question chart.

Tip: Answers are generated into the final report the way you have them set up in the answer analysis. So add charts and comments there. The steps are described in the guide Final report.

7. New charts for all question types

Charts in the answer analysis section are a visual summary of the answers to each question. All questions got new charts: pie charts, bar charts and more advanced ratio or percentage charts. The NPS question has its own semicircle chart.

A pie chart shows the share of each answer in percent.

You can name the chart and its X and Y axes and add a comment. You will find all of this under the Expand button, either for the whole page or just for selected questions.

8. Downloading a chart as an image

You download each chart separately through the menu icon in the top right corner of the chart. You can still download the whole final report as a PDF and print the charts.

The chart menu offers printing and downloading in four formats.

Print You need the chart on paper.
Download PNG Inserting into Word or a PowerPoint presentation.
Download JPEG A smaller file, for example for an email.
Download PDF The chart as a standalone document.
Download SVG A vector you can enlarge without losing quality.

9. Quick filtering with the chart legend

The chart legend is the label with series names below the chart. Clicking an item in the legend hides the matching bar or slice, and another click shows it again. You can quickly follow results only for the answers you are interested in. Charts in email campaigns work the same way.

A click on a legend item hides the series in the chart, another click brings it back.

Tip: If you want to compare answers from only a certain group of respondents, use the advanced filter in the answer analysis. You choose criteria by questions and answers or by data stored with contacts and companies, see the guide Analysis of answers.

10. A clearer Answer analysis page

Answer analysis is the survey section where you see the number of answers, the share of each option and a chart for every question. We aligned the elements so that even long questions and answers fit the width of the page, and long texts wrap onto the next line. Buttons got new colours so you can recognise them faster when you want to add, edit or delete something.

11. Notices for a paused or closed survey

A notice for a paused or closed survey is the text respondents see when they open a survey that is not running right now. You write it in a new dialog in the survey settings. In it you fill in the notice text, the button text and the address of the page the button sends the respondent to.

In the dialog you write the notice, the button text and the page the respondent goes to.

For a paused survey, write when it will be running again. For a closed survey, let respondents know that the research is no longer taking place.

12. New logo settings for the survey and the final report

In the Final report section you can switch the logo on or off and choose its size. On the Settings page you can now also centre the logo in the survey. You upload the logo itself in Settings under Contact details.

Tip: You don't have to download and forward the final report. Use the envelope button in the top right corner to email it to yourself or a colleague.

What to try in Quanda right now

Before you launch your next survey, go through these steps:

  • Add an NPS question to your survey, followed by an open question about the reason for the rating.
  • Send the survey as an invitation from Quanda so you can see respondent lists by answer.
  • Tag the detractors from the NPS question and send them a separate email.
  • Set the closing page to redirect to your own thank you page with a next step.
  • Download the most important chart as PNG and put it into your presentation.
  • Check that the final report contains your logo and all text answers.
  • Prepare a notice for a paused survey before you need it.
