Custom fields store your own data about contacts and companies that Quanda has no predefined field for, such as a loyalty card number or industry. Contacts have six custom fields, companies three. You name them under Settings, Custom Fields and then use their values to select recipients, filter survey results and personalize emails.

How to name custom fields

  1. In the top menu, open ..., Settings, Custom Fields.
  2. In the Name the custom contact fields section, enter names for the contact fields, in the Name the custom companies fields section names for the company fields.
  3. Click Save.

Naming the custom contact fields.

Choose the names carefully. When you rename a field later, the data stays in it. With the settings below the field, though, you can delete the field's content for all contacts or companies and block automations linked to the field so you can adjust them later.

The named fields then appear in the contact detail in the Custom Fields section.

What custom fields are for

  • Selecting campaign recipients. Choose who gets the campaign by the value in the field.
  • Filtering survey results. Split the answers by data about the respondents.
  • Personalizing emails. In the email editor, insert the field's tag via personalization, for example {{ contact_custom_field_1 }}. When the email is sent, it is replaced with the value stored for each contact. More in Personalization in campaigns.

How data gets into custom fields

  • Manually in the contact detail.
  • By import from a file where you map a column to the custom field, see the Contact import guide.
  • With a form. A form automation can fill up to six custom fields with text, see Automation in a form.
  • With a contact automation that fills in the custom field when a contact is created or modified.
