Before you start building the e-mails, decide what you want to find out with the A/B test. Whether it is a higher open rate or more clicks on the links in the e-mail.

How to create version A and version B

First create version A of the e-mail. Proceed the same way as in a simple e-mail campaign. Once you are happy with the e-mail, click Save and create version B below the e-mail. Quanda creates a copy in which you make your changes.

  • Testing the open rate: leave the content unchanged and only change the subject and the preheader of the e-mail.
  • Testing clicks: change the number, color or text of the buttons and links. Change only one thing at a time, so you know what caused the difference.

On the Email Editor page you see both versions in a table with the columns E-mail Name, E-mail Subject, Created, SPAM, SPAM score and Action. Click a name to open that version in the editor.

Check both versions in the preview (the Save and show e-mail preview icon) and continue with the Save and Sending Settings button below the e-mail to the Sending page, where you set the size of the test groups and how the winner is chosen.

Finish version A first and click Save and create version B below the email. Quanda creates a copy of version A in which you make the planned change.

It depends on the goal of the test. When you test the open rate, keep the content and only change the subject line and preheader. When you test clicks, keep the subject line and change the number, color or text of the buttons and links.

Only one. If you change the subject line, an image and a button in version B, you learn which version won, but not why. One change per test gives you a finding you can use next time too.

On the Email Editor page, click the name of version A in the table. It opens in the editor and you can edit it.

Use the Save and show e-mail preview icon for each version. On the Sending Settings page you then send yourself test emails, which arrive for both versions.
