You set up link branding by generating an SSL certificate for a chosen subdomain, for example link.yourcompany.com, and redirecting all of its addresses on your server to https://link.onquanda.com/ while keeping the rest of the address. Link branding replaces the onquanda.com domain in the links in your emails with your own domain. The links then look like yours, which strengthens the credibility of the email and improves its deliverability.
Why links in emails go through onquanda.com
To track clicks, Quanda replaces all links in an email after sending with an address that goes through our system, and from there it redirects the recipient to the original destination. Without link branding, recipients therefore see the onquanda.com domain in the links. With link branding they see your domain, and click tracking keeps working the same way.
How to set up link branding
- Choose a subdomain. We recommend a short name, for example mail, email, click or link. The links in your emails then look like https://link.yourcompany.com/.
- Generate an SSL certificate. Generate your own SSL certificate for the chosen subdomain and ideally set up its automatic renewal.
- Set up the redirect. In the hosting of the subdomain, redirect all addresses starting with https://link.yourcompany.com/ to https://link.onquanda.com/. On an Apache server you do this in the .htaccess file.
- Test a link. Check that the redirect keeps the whole part of the address after the slash.
- Let support know. Email support@onquanda.com with the subdomain you set up. Quanda support turns on link branding in your account, and only then do the links in your emails start going through your domain.
How the redirect should work
When a recipient clicks a link in an email, for example:
https://link.yourcompany.com/newsletter/817746e333eeed0b08080af0a3c6a87c189c5008d1fd98877b813e8865f16d20/
the server must redirect them to the same address with the link.onquanda.com domain, including everything after the slash:
https://link.onquanda.com/newsletter/817746e333eeed0b08080af0a3c6a87c189c5008d1fd98877b813e8865f16d20/
From the ending of the address, Quanda recognizes which link the recipient clicked, counts the click and sends them to the right destination. If the redirect does not keep the ending, the link will not work.
What else to set up for deliverability
Link branding complements sending domain verification. If you have not set up SPF and DKIM yet, start with How to set up DNS records for sending. What each setting does is explained in DKIM, SPF, DMARC, link branding and sending domain verification.

We recommend a short, clear subdomain, for example mail, email, click or link. The links in your emails then look like https://link.yourcompany.com/.
The links in emails use https addresses. Without a valid SSL certificate, the recipient's browser would show a warning about an insecure connection after the click. Ideally set up automatic renewal so the certificate does not expire.
Yes. The redirect must change an address starting with your subdomain to https://link.onquanda.com/ and keep everything after the slash. Quanda uses that part of the address to recognize which link the recipient clicked and send them to the right destination.
